Spring Challenge 1: Love & Life

Hi everyone...I was supposed to post this yesterday but my day got sooooo busy I couldn't even post it, and the funny thing is that I did my nails from Thursday night. But with further delay here it is My first in Spring Challenge by Purpler Glitters.

The first theme is Love and Life, the colour combination I chose was Pink and Orange.

Tools:

• Bundle Monster Plate: BM 03 
• MASH Plate: m 63
• JLB 04
• Confetti: Conga Line
• Nina Ultra Pro: Fuchsia Rage
• Shades of the Season: Glitter Pink
• Konad Stamp and Scraper

Base Colour:

This base colour was a beautiful light colour, however it was the first time using this brand (JLB) which was not very smooth but I made it work, don't think I'd buy this brand again.

I saw this pattern and decided to use it from my MASH plate set m63. I used the Shades of the Season Glitter pink and i thought it came out sooooo lovely.

I then added these cute little hearts from my Bundle Monster plate BM 03 using Confetti's Conga Line which is a lovely shimmery orange. This came out very cute.

Ok this is where I went wrong, u added the additional heart with wings using the same Bundle Monster plate which I do think was a bad decision using the same Confetti Conga Line. I then use the Nina Ultra Pro: Fuchsia Rage to fill in the heart(another bad decision.) 

Here is the finished product with the flash.

All in all I love the fingers but not the thumb, I think I took it a little too far.

Shiny Penny

Hi everyone,

sorry I haven't been posting any nails in a few days. I've switched computers and trying to get all my stuff transferred to my new one including my programs I use to edit. 

but anyway, I painted my nails with Nina Ultra Pro: Shiny Penny, which is a lovely brownish-bronze-y colour with a very subtle shimmer in it, that you really see in the picture with the flash. Anyway, take a look-see.

This polish went on very easily, I applied 2 coats just for good measure, one coat seemed a little transparent. Fairly easy to cleanup. I used Beauty Secrets base coat and Oh So Wet! top coat, which dries quickly but does not leave that glassy shine I wanted when I bought this.

This polish is lasting longer than I expected... I'm going on to day 4 now with just one very unnoticeable chip I got when I hit my hand.

Beauty secrets base coat

Oh So Wet top coat

I have already used the top coat, base coat and the new acetone (not pictured here). The base coat seems to go on nicely, so does the top coat which is quick dry that I did notice worked well, but when it came to having that wet look I wanted it did not live up my expectations at all but a good buy nonetheless. 

When I did my nails after I bought the new acetone I was using my old acetone (Equate Acetone I bought in Wal-Mart) to clean up at first and I had found that my brush was getting stiff and sticky no matter how I wiped and soaked it in the acetone I had, then something in my mind told me to try the new one, and when I did, OH MY! what a difference it made. It was as if the stickiness and stiffness dissolved. On top of that it cleaned so easily and smelt better then my other acetone.

Stamping Christmas Toes

This was a design I did for Christmas. It wasn't perfect because I did not have my fine nail brush set to detail the design but looks real nice when looking down.

Tools Used:

• Small Acrylic brush (If you have a fine nail art brush that would be better)
• Konad scrapper and stamper
• Bundle Monster stamping plate BM14 (Mistletoe design)
• Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Clear (Top Coat)
• Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hardener (Base coat)
• Wet n' Wild Shine: Caribbean Frost
• Shades of the Season: Glitter Green
• Nina Ultra Pro: Molten Opal
• Bundle Monster Tiny Red gems
• Toothpick

Steps:

1. Apply Base coat
2. Apply the light color (Molten Opal in my case)
3. Used the Caribbean Frost to make a line at the top of each nail
4. Use the Green Glitter over the Caribbean Frost to give the shimmery look.
5. Let all nail polish dry for about 30mins (I wait this long because if I wait short a time then I end up smudging my nails when stamping.)
6. Apply the Caribbean Frost on the mistletoe design 
7. then scrape and Pick up the design with the stamp
8. Quickly line up the stamp with the nail and stamp nail.
9. Let design dry for 10 mins.
10. Use the fine brush to lightly go over the Caribbean green design leaves with the Green Glitter
11. Let dry and apply top coat
12. Put a drop of top coat on a post it or solid surface.
13. Use the toothpick lightly dip in the drop of top coat and use it to pick up the gems and apply to the nail before the top coat is dry (preferably immediately after applying the top coat).
14. Let the dry and apply a nice thick coat of top coat over the gems and nail to seal them in.

The finished product should look something like this, but hopefully yours look a lot more detailed than mine came out due to the brush I was using.
